# Deal alerts

> Get an email or Discord message the moment a matching deal appears.

Deal alerts watch the [deals feed](/buying-groups/deals) for you. Each alert is a set of filters, and whenever a newly synced deal matches, you get an email or a Discord message. Alerts are a Whale plan feature, with up to 20 per account. They live under **Integrations → Buying Groups → Alerts**.

## Create an alert

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the form">
    On the Alerts page, click **Create alert**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it and choose how to be notified">
    Give the alert a name. Pick **Email** or **Discord**. Discord needs a webhook saved first; see [Discord notifications](#discord-notifications).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the filters">
    Use any combination of these. At least one is required.

    * **Keywords**, up to five. A deal matches if any keyword appears in the deal or item title.
    * **Buying groups**
    * **Retailers**
    * **Deal type**: above cost, at cost, or below cost. Choosing above cost adds a **Min above %** field; below cost adds **Max below %**. Leave either blank for any amount.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    The alert starts watching the next sync.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Alerts fire for deals that are new in a sync, not for changes to deals you've already seen. The table shows each alert's filters, delivery method, when it last fired, and how many notifications it has sent. Edit, disable, or delete alerts from the row menu.

## Discord notifications

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a webhook in Discord">
    In your Discord server, open the channel settings, go to **Integrations → Webhooks**, create one, and copy its URL.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save it in Churning Tracker">
    Go to **Settings → Notifications** and paste the URL into **Buying group deal alerts** under Alert notifications.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test it">
    Click **Test connection**. A test message is posted to the channel, and the URL is saved only if that works.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Use the unlink icon next to the field to remove the webhook later. The [Marketplace alerts](/marketplace/alerts) field next to it works the same way and can point at a different channel.

<Note>
  If you downgrade from Whale, your alerts are turned off rather than deleted. Upgrade again and switch them back on.
